| "Let the ruins come to life." |
Chose the words 'Let the ruins come to life' from the song Glorious Ruins by Hillsongs. Pastor Brian Houston of the church Hillsong states, "
Ruins can speak of crushing defeat or perhaps of something abandoned, but the good news today is that the ruins come to life. …Through Jesus Christ what we look at is ruins that become glorious..." People see themselves as ruins; sometimes unloved, defeated or alone, but it gives me a sense of hope that through it all, one is able to find life again. People, through it all, can become beautiful and whole once again which is why I set my pattern in this landscape. I chose to put it in the background of the ruins so it can give a sense of "light"; like a new day among these ruins. I also chose to put them on the ruins because ,even though, I don't see my pattern as beautiful, I wanted the ruins to convey that even though they have been destroyed, that is not all they are. Even in their ruins, there is a sense of beauty and that they once were beautiful.
