My animated memoir is a short series of stories that are told in this video. They are stories based on people around me who have gone through these experiences. I created a childrens book for a previous class assignment so I just chose to recreate that into an animation. I wanted it to seem as though you're flipping or rifling through a book so it has stiff transitions. I also wanted to keep it a childrens book theme which is why I chose to add color and stick with a cartoonish feel. Originally, I was going to add sound, but decided that it didnt really mesh with the video because I only wanted to integrate it into certain parts. For the memoir, I cut out pieces of paper and took pictures of them layered on top of one another. In photoshop, I colored some parts of the images while adding certain text to see how those three elements would be layered on top of each other. These are all true stories and even though it may be short, hopefully it leaves an impact.

ReplyDeleteI like your use of color, it definitely helps this animation look like something from a children's book. The flow of the animation is somewhat stopped; I think that if you had integrated different moments with a common message the stopped style could have worked better, but since you are portraying so many different messages the context becomes confusing. Maybe even using a series of different short animations instead of still drawings could help you flow from one idea to the next. Your use of quotes helps your animation, each scene appears as almost a life lesson to be taught, which is common in children's books.
ReplyDeleteenjoyed that you involved other people in your life for this project. I also liked how you cut out the clips first and put it together in an animation. The sayings that you post onto the video really helps the viewer follow as to what you are trying to deliver. The two things I would work on is having more of a transition for each different scene. Also I would add more, the story behind it is good but I Kind of wanted to know more of the different stories.
